Issues

The purpose of government, in the best case, is to protect the rights of the individual. Freedom, individual liberty, is, or at least ought to be, the goal of political activity, the highest political value.

America’s founders, for the most part, had this end in mind when establishing the federal government. To the extent American political life has stayed faithful to individual liberty it has been rewarded with economic success.

Because, as the founders generally understood, freedom is not just right;  freedom works. Around the world freedom and prosperity go hand-in-hand. Where you find one, you find the other. Economic success indicates the breadth and depth of a people’s freedom.
